A New Year To Remember!


December 31, 2008. A year full of ups, downs, along with twist and turns. So to get our knots and tight tendons adjusted, the Muddy Waters' Pleasure Circus/Oso/99 Cent Dreams new years party was the thing to make that a successful new years resolution. The thick sounds of drums and saxophones took the first hour of the night making for the last of 99 Cent Dreams' experimental jazz of the old year. The 10 to 15 minute intravals kept the floor entertaining and inviting to the incoming celebrators. With a packed house, free telegraph beer for those with a ticket stub, and myself wearing red cowboy boots and a tank top, Oso Took the stage, presenting themselves with an acoustic set as Phil Taylor took a unicyle to display his multi-tasking abilities. As the minutes count down from 11:55 Phil spoke of the last year,11:56 a time of good ridance, 11:57 a year of much, 11:58 tons of looking forward to 11:59 and then, being broadcasted live on 91.9fm KCSB was the countdown, 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1! Its a new year. These local favorites make the rest of their set a great one, ending with a balkan melody. A fresh year meant for a fresh start to the Pleasure Circus, a funkadelic band based out of Los Angeles. The fire kept its flame throughout the night with Oliwa showing some skin and making use of the base of his body, aswell as his bass guitar. The night strarted loud and erratic, to funky and goovetastic. The year has begun in a good note.
